From Saturday 6/12 to Monday 8/12, in Torrita di Siena starts the fifth edition of the event. Many meetings and initiatives and in conclusion, the prize-winners of the competition "The Vin Santo home-made".

With the holiday season, comes the fifth edition of "Would you like a shot of Vin Santo?", The event dedicated to the amber colored wine, is held every year at Montefollonico, a pretty village in the province of Siena. The appointment, scheduled from Saturday 6 to Monday 8 December, is to enhance the tradition of domestic production of Vino Santo, a niche product for quality that in the past farmers offered to their guests as a gesture of welcome and friendship.

Art, entertainment, tastings of the best home-made Vin Santi and of the typical products of the area, but also moments of confrontation and deepening. These are the ingredients...

... of the event sponsored by the municipal administration of Torrita di Siena in collaboration with the Association Polisportiva Montanina, the Cultural Center, the Centro Polivalente of  Montefollonico and the restaurant "La Chiusa". The three days festival will open Saturday 6/12 at 21:00, with the presentation of the book "Memoirs of a village (Montefollonico yesterday ...)" by Renzo Butazzo and the concert of the "Seta Moneta", a group singing popular Tuscan songs, and will end Monday 8/12 with the prize of the best home-made Vin Santo, scheduled in the annual competition, open to all small producers who make the Italian Vino Santo for tradition, passion and pleasure but not for the market.

Sunday, Dec. 7, beginning at 10:00, at the theater Bruno Vitolo of Montefollonico, room for discussion with the traditional round table dedicated to the 2008 edition, the comparison between Picolit, wine produced in the eastern hills of Friuli and Vin Santo from Tuscany. Under this initiative will be presented the video entitled "Montefollonico: The village of Vin Santo" designed to enhance and make known the hamlet, its history and traditions. In the afternoon, at 16, the theater Bruno Vitolo will be the scene of another meeting with the theme "Oh, when the Saints ..", where Daniele Maestri, Ais teacher and journalist, will show how to combine the Vin Santo wine in the modern context. At 17, in the Church of San Bartolomeo will kick off a tasting of Tuscan Vin Santo and Picolit, combined with local cheeses of the two zones of origin.

Monday 8/12 at 18, still at the Bruno Vitolo Theater in Montefollonico, the winners of the fourth edition of the "The Vin Santo home-made" will be awarded. The awards will be allocated to the three best products among the categories of dry Vin Santo and Vin Santo dessert. It will also be given a special recognition to the best Vin Santo "young", with less than six years, and at best Vin Santo "old".
