Skiing in the Amiata


 

The Monte Amiata is a beautiful mountain of the preappennino which is located between the provinces of Grosseto and Siena. This mountain, which was formed by an ancient volcano, reaches its maximum height to La Vetta (1738 m) while the other peaks are Montagnola, Corno di Belluria, Poggio Trauzzolo, Poggio Pinzi, Aquila, Buceto, Labbro and Civitella. On top of monte Amiata there are four sttions: Prato della Contessa, Prato delle Macinaie, Marsiliana the refuge Cantore.

Ski Resort:

  • 12 Alpine ski slopes including 7 with artificial snow, for a total of 10 km. 
  • 3 Nordic ski tracks for a total of 10.5 km of which 5.5 Km constantly beaten. The ring of Marsiliana (2.5 km in the plain of the Marsiliana beech wood, in Cantore) is also suitable for beginners. The ring Macinaie (3 km up to the Prato delle Macinaie) is for experts.
  • 8 lifts that can be accessed with a ski pass.

Possibility to have individual or collective ski lessons and to make excursions.

Excursions: a forest road 5 km long near the Primo Rifugio, for excursions in fresh snow that sometimes is marked.
