The Province of Prato

The province of Prato, was established in 1992 and is a strip of territory both mountainous, hilly and flat that stretch from the Appennino to the lower Valdarno, extending itself for about 360 sq. km.
The creation of this province is due largely to demographic and economic dimension of the city of Prato.

The province is composed of seven municipalities: Cantagallo, Carmignano, Montemurlo, Poggio a Caiano, Cantagallo, Vernio and Prato.
Renowned since medieval times for the wool textile processing, this territory still has an important role in economic and social development of the district.
