The Province of Siena

The province of Siena can be divided into seven beautiful areas:

Province of Siena

Alta Val d'Elsa (which includes the municipalities of Casole d'Elsa, Colle Val d'Elsa, Poggibonsi, Radicondoli and San Gimignano)

Chianti Senese (part of wine-growing zone created in 1932 in the province of Siena that gives rise to wines Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi)

Siena (and Monteriggioni)

Val di Merse (with the communes of Chiusdino, Monticiano, Murlo and Sovicille)

The Crete (zone with a characteristic almost lunar landscape because bare of vegetation and full of gullies and biancane. Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme and San Giovanni d'Asso are the municipalities of this area known  from the Middle Ages as desert of Accona)

Val di Chiana Senese (as opposed to the Crete, here the land is lush and fields are treated and processed. Municipalities in this area are: Cetona, Chianciano Terme, Chiusi, Montepulciano, Sinalunga, Torrita of Siena and Trequanda)

Val d'Orcia and Amiata (The landscape of this area is so famous in the world that it can be considered the postcard of Italy and it has been inserted between partimoni of humanity. Municipalities: Abbadia San Salvatore, Castiglione d'Orcia, Montalcino, Piancastagnaio, Pienza, Radicofani, San Quirico d'Orcia)
